When a homeless guy has applied to all the jobs... when he has a job...

When a homeless guy has applied to all the jobs... when he has a job... is he still homeless? Can he still be cited for loitering at a place he's applied for a job at? Of course he can.

It takes months of saving for a person to earn enough money for housing. It can take weeks from application to interview and first day of work, and more weeks until the first payday. Am I surprising anyone with this? Most people don't think that hard about it. In a sense my homelessness has been a blessing to the world, even if nobody I used to know can appreciate it. I was consistently among the top 1% of profiles on tech hiring sites, contacted endlessly by recruiters. And now I make great impressions wherever I work... but almost nobody will let me work.

In the mean time I keep records and journalistic notes to the extent possible. I've looked at apply to law schools but I'd need a character and fitness assessment which requires others vouching for me, which obviously isn't happening. I've been absolutely chucked in the garbage by 99.9%+ of my old network (1 in 1,000 may support me)... which prepared me for how the general public would treat me. I'm glad I had a full life before ending up in the garbage bin.

I can write to my audience of the general public, having once held a similar attitude toward homeless people. There's really no fixed path out of this. Getting a job is an increasingly complicated process that also depends on the local economy, or having resources to travel and maintain a presentable appearance and reachability. It's a very tall Jenga stack, not something a person can just set their mind to and accomplish in the snap of a finger.

With funding, if I'm able to maintain my records, I'll be able to publish and contribute to the wider issue. In the mean time my cup isn't even full. When homeless people ask me for money of course I say no. Not because they don't need or deserve it, but for that reason, I seemingly can't even get myself pulled up by the bootstraps.

I am a legend. I am the most capable person of getting off the street as efficiently as possible. Of course there are probably other homeless people in my league, but I am in the top percentile in this endeavor as I am in most things I set my mind to... this is by far the hardest thing I've ever faced and the least support I've ever received.

And I'm still despised and able to be swept away as a simple criminal and public nuisance at anyone's whim.
