Every so often I have to reiterate what iSpooge Daily is. People hate the name, I get it. My in-character behavior is unbecoming of a professional at times. Explaining probably comes off as off-brand, but it's really not.
When I was around 16 I came up with the name. The "Jargon File" (JF) used to include an entry for "spooge" defined as "1. spooge /spooj/ Inexplicable or arcane code, or random and probably incorrect output from a computer program. [Jargon File]." The JF was like an early Urban Dictionary and "spooge" has been nearly wiped from history, omitted from newer versions of the Jargon File. I couldn't have known it would be wiped from history when I chose it all those years ago, sitting in a high school CCNA certification class where I sat when 9/11 started.
Back in the day I built a CMS / "Blog" / "Entertainment News" system as advanced as anything else on the market, which I rolled out to my friends in high school and abroad. It gave us all a place to express ourselves, going so far as to include a uSpooge portion of the website. The dream has never died. For most of my adult life you'd never have guessed I was that city kid who dropped out of high school and quit his job as a dish washer at 17 to start a career selling e-commerce sites built on that same platform (called FreshSpooge).
No doubt I put the name aside when I started working with mature adults. But most mature adults "actually hate their lives" (a quote I can attribute to OpenTable since I came up with it in their office while employed). Jesus was a rebel at times, but he remained within the law. He kicked over tables and commanded demons to get behind him... not the weak soy eating hippy most people imagine him as. He came with a sword, to tear families apart where they weren't all on the same team.
So in a sense iSpooge Daily is a name that tests discernment. Can you separate the message from the messenger? Do you have a sense of curiosity, enough to ask if "spooge" really means what you think it does? Elite professionals and warriors are defined by what they do each day, the small habits. I couldn't explain what I was doing when I started the brand, but upon reflection it remains consistent with where I aspire to be as a mature adult, compatible with huge communities of self-improvement and entrepreneurial minded people who share their ways online.
It's really interesting seeing what triggers people. I've learned over time that so much of it is indeed projection... people with dirty minds can read completely clean messages through their filthy lens and flag/report it, and pure souls can completely miss dirty messages and assume the best intent of the poster. Discernment doesn't come from simple innocence but is earned like wisdom, often through exposure to filth and gained after repentance. Stay tuned for more thoughts of this nature, I'm obviously venturing beyond the point of this quick intro/refresher/update post.
The spirit of this work is a tech stack that allows people like Jesus to operate in defiance of the pharisees, and the realization is the brand name and content of iSpooge Daily. We are in this world but not of it and need 'battle tested' tech to support us in our missions; here it is.
